Trauflix is a dietary supplement with glucosamine in capsules that I tried due to stiffness in my knees after prolonged walking and standing. Most of all, I wanted the descent down the stairs in the morning to not start with that unpleasant tightness.

I took one capsule daily for six weeks. At first, I took it with water before breakfast, but that didn’t sit well with me. About half an hour after taking it, I felt a slight burning sensation in my stomach and sometimes a sour taste in my mouth, so I moved it to after breakfast, and that problem almost disappeared.

The capsule was easy to swallow. It wasn’t huge, and I didn’t have to open it or mix it with food. I kept the bottle next to the coffee maker because if I put it away in the cupboard, I simply forgot to take it. This happened to me twice during the first week.

What I felt week by week

During the first seven days, I didn’t notice any significant change. My knees still bothered me when going down the stairs, and after a longer walk in the evening, they felt heavy. I didn’t expect an instant effect, and I’m glad I didn’t give up too early.

By the end of the second week, the morning stiffness had decreased. I used to need a few minutes of movement for my knees to “get going.” Then I found it easier to get up from the chair. It wasn’t painless, but I didn’t have to lean on the table every time I stood up.

The clearest difference I felt during the third and fourth weeks. After my usual walking, I didn’t experience the same tightness around my right knee. The creaking when squatting remained, but it didn’t bother me as much. One day, I spent more time in the garden, and only in the evening did I realize that I hadn’t thought about my knee almost all day. That was a good sign for me.

In the fifth week, I intentionally didn’t increase my walking to avoid convincing myself of improvement. I maintained the same rhythm and simply monitored how I felt in the evening. At that point, the difference seemed most honest to me: I had fewer days when I would sit down and immediately look for a place to stretch my legs. At the same time, if I overdid it with squatting or climbing many stairs, my knees protested again.

I wouldn’t say that the supplement restored my joints or eliminated the cause of everything. The old pinching when turning my leg sharply remained. In humid weather, I still felt my joints more tense. Trauflix didn’t replace movement, rest, and not overdoing it with carrying heavy bags.

What I didn’t like

  • if I took the capsule on an empty stomach, I experienced slight stomach discomfort;
  • the effect was slow, so it’s not for someone expecting relief on the same day;
  • I didn’t see a change in the cracking of the joints or in the unpleasant sensation after excessive strain;
  • the packaging with twenty capsules wasn’t convenient for a longer regimen and left a small remainder after the course.

In my opinion, Trauflix would suit people with mild stiffness and discomfort from strain who are willing to take it regularly and wait a few weeks. I would consider it part of a calmer regimen with moderate movement, rather than a solution in itself. It helped me more with morning stiffness than with the pain itself.

I wouldn’t recommend it to someone with severe, sudden pain, visible swelling, redness, or an unstable joint. In such cases, I wouldn’t delay getting a check-up. People with diabetes, allergies to seafood, blood clotting issues, or those taking blood-thinning medications should also discuss taking it with a doctor or pharmacist first.

I would buy Trauflix again, but only if my stiffness returned in the same mild form. I didn’t expect a miracle, and I didn’t get one, but after six weeks, my knees were a bit calmer during daily movement.

My brief conclusion: a slow supplement with moderate effect that helped me gradually and without dramatic changes.
