I tried GenF20 Plus because I had hit a period of flat training progress and low afternoon energy, and I wanted something that might help me feel less wiped out after work without leaning harder on caffeine. It’s sold as an over-the-counter supplement and marketed as a human growth hormone releaser rather than actual growth hormone.

I used it for a little over eight weeks. The pack I had came in two parts: tablets and a small sublingual liquid. I took the tablets on an empty stomach and used the drops before meals, which was the routine I followed most weekdays. In practice, that part was the hardest thing to keep neat. Real life kept getting in the way, so I ended up setting reminders and carrying the bottle around with me.

How it fit into my routine

I kept the rest of my habits mostly steady while I used it. I stayed with my normal gym routine, which was three sessions a week, mostly weights with a short finisher on the bike. My sleep stayed about the same too, aside from the usual bad night when it was too warm. I didn’t make a dramatic diet change. I wanted to see what the supplement itself would do.

The first thing I noticed was how much attention the timing demanded. On weekdays I could usually make it work first thing, then again later when I managed the empty-stomach window. On weekends it was more annoying. I like a lazy brunch, and fitting doses around that took the ease out of the whole thing. The liquid also had a sweet, medicinal taste that I never really liked, and if I didn’t tighten the cap properly, I could smell it in my bag for days.

What I noticed after a few weeks

Week one was basically a non-event. I didn’t feel a kick, and I didn’t expect one either. By the end of week two, though, I noticed I felt a bit more even in the afternoons. Not wired. Just less of that slump where I stare at the screen and reread the same email twice.

Weeks three to four were when I felt the clearest benefit. My energy felt less fragile. I could get through a full workday, get home, cook, and still make it to the gym without bargaining with myself for an hour first. One night I realised I had gone through the whole day on my usual two coffees and didn’t feel the pull for a third one at 3 p.m. That was new for me.

I didn’t see a dramatic change in strength. The bar didn’t suddenly move faster. Recovery felt a little easier, though. If I trained legs on Tuesday, I still felt it on Thursday, but it didn’t feel as punishing. My joints did not transform, and my back did not magically stop being a back, but I was less creaky getting up off the sofa.

I was careful not to kid myself about the “youthful look” claims. I didn’t wake up looking different. Around week five, my face did seem a bit less tired in the mirror, but I think that was partly because I was getting to bed on time more often. I didn’t lose weight from it. If anything, my appetite felt a bit more noticeable on some days.

Sleep was mixed for me. A couple of nights in weeks three and four I slept very deeply. Other nights I woke around 4 a.m. and felt awake-ish for about 20 minutes. It wasn’t anxiety, just a slightly switched-on feeling. That eased later, but I noticed it.

The downsides I had to put up with

  • The empty-stomach timing was a hassle and easy to mess up.
  • The sublingual liquid tasted sweet and medicinal, and it lingered.
  • I had mild stomach gurgling in the first week, especially if I took it and then drank coffee straight after.
  • I got two tight-band headaches in the first fortnight.
  • It didn’t do anything obvious for my aches or my strength numbers.

I also wouldn’t describe it as a strong effect. If someone is hoping for something that feels like a powerful drug or a dramatic body change, I didn’t get that at all. For me it was more like a gentle nudge to day-to-day stamina. That may be enough for some people, but it wasn’t a miracle switch.

Who I think it suits

I think GenF20 Plus suited me as a try-it-and-see supplement because my main problem was energy and recovery, not a specific medical condition. If you’re already doing the basics fairly well, like moving a few times a week and not sleeping four hours a night, you might be in the group that notices a subtle improvement.

I’d skip it if you hate fiddly routines, if you want obvious muscle gain fast, or if you’re the kind of person who gets anxious about body sensations. The early odd little signals would probably bother someone sensitive to that sort of thing. I’d also treat it carefully if you have health conditions or you’re on medication, because it’s a supplement rather than a regulated medicine.

My verdict: I might buy it again for a busy stretch when I want steadier energy and a bit better recovery, but I wouldn’t keep it as a permanent habit. It gave me a modest lift by about weeks three to six, with an annoying routine and no miracle changes. I’d recommend it only for someone who is willing to tolerate the timing and wants a subtle effect rather than a dramatic one.
