Reishield is a dietary supplement in capsule form containing extract from the fruiting body of the reishi mushroom. I started it during a time when I wanted more organized support for my daily immunity and needed something calming, rather than a quick fix. What mattered most to me was getting through weeks of sleep deprivation and being around people with colds more easily.

The box I used was small and contained ten brown capsules in a silver blister. I took one capsule in the morning after breakfast with a large glass of water. I tried it once on an empty stomach, but after about half an hour I felt a slight burning sensation and didn’t repeat that. After that, I took it after oatmeal, eggs, or at least a slice of bread, and that kept my stomach calm.

How it worked for me

The first week passed without any significant change. I didn’t have more energy, nor did I notice a tangible difference in my nose, throat, or sleep. I wasn’t disappointed because I didn’t expect one capsule to turn my day around.

By the end of the second week, I noticed less afternoon fatigue. I can’t say that this was solely due to Reishield, as I also started going to bed earlier at the same time. Still, I didn’t feel as drained after work and had a more even feeling throughout the day.

By the third week, the clearest thing for me was that the morning irritation in my throat wasn’t worsening when there were people around me with colds. I wouldn’t say the supplement protected me from getting sick. It’s just that during this period, I didn’t experience the usual few days of a heavy nose and fatigue, which was encouraging for me.

I continued for a total of six weeks. This meant I had to keep track of the capsules because one box only lasted for ten days. That was the most annoying practical detail for me. The blister opened easily, but in the mornings I sometimes rushed and found that I had already run out of capsules from the previous box.

What I didn’t like

  • It didn’t sit well on an empty stomach.
  • The small box ran out quickly.
  • I didn’t notice a distinct change in the first two weeks.
  • It didn’t help with an already started cold.

Besides the slight burning on an empty stomach, I sometimes felt dryness in my mouth after taking it. It went away with water, but it was strange enough for me to remember. On two occasions, I also had slight swelling in the evening. I can’t be sure that the cause was exactly Reishield, but after that, I started taking it only after a more solid breakfast.

When I caught a mild cold in the fifth week, Reishield didn’t stop it. At that time, I needed rest, warm fluids, and a normal routine. This is important for me because I wouldn’t rely on such a supplement when I have a fever, a severe cough, pain, or recurring infections. For such issues, I seek medical advice, not more capsules.

In my experience, the product is suitable for someone who wants a calm addition to their daily routine and has the patience to observe how they feel. It’s also suitable for people who don’t like powders, teas, and preparing infusions. The capsule was convenient, small, and easy to swallow.

I wouldn’t recommend it to someone expecting an instant boost in energy or a solution to a specific health problem. I would skip it if I had a sensitive stomach and couldn’t take it after food. People taking blood-thinning medications, those with autoimmune diseases, pregnant or breastfeeding women should first discuss reishi with a doctor.

I would buy Reishield again, but only during a time when my sleep is disrupted and I want an addition to my routine for overall tone. I wouldn’t make it a permanent part of my cabinet because the effect for me was mild and uneven. For me, it was moderate support, but with a need for patience, taking it after meals, and realistic expectations.
