I tried Collagen Select because my skin looked a bit dull and my knees had started grumbling after longer walks. It is a collagen-based beauty supplement with a few extra “healthy ageing” ingredients in the same scoop, and I wanted steadier skin hydration more than anything else.

I used the flavoured powder once a day for just over eight weeks. Most mornings I stirred one serving into a small glass of cold water after breakfast and drank it right away. That routine worked best for me because it was simple, and I was more likely to stick with it.

How it felt to take

The taste was fine. It was slightly sweet and more like a fruit drink than a protein shake, and I did not get that chalky finish some powders leave behind. The only practical nuisance was the faint marine smell when I opened the tub. It was not unpleasant, just noticeable for a moment.

Mixing mattered more than I expected. If I put the powder in first, it clumped at the bottom and needed a spoon to break up. When I added the water first and the powder second, it dissolved much better. I also found that a smaller amount of water made it easier to drink quickly, because a larger glass made the flavour feel too faint.

I kept the rest of my routine the same on purpose. Same moisturiser, same shampoo, same imperfect sleep. I wanted to notice the supplement on its own, not confuse it with a new lifestyle plan.

What changed for me

Week one was uneventful. I kept taking it, but I did not feel any different and my skin did not suddenly look better.

Around week two, I noticed my nails felt less bendy. They did not grow faster, but they seemed a bit stronger when I was peeling labels or scraping off a stubborn sticker. That was the first sign that made me think it might actually be doing something.

By week three or four, the skin effect became clearer. My face felt less tight after a windy commute, and I needed less lip balm through the day. The change was subtle, not dramatic. Still, in the mirror, the fine dry lines on my forehead looked a little softer in the late afternoon.

The joint support was mixed for me. My knees still complained on steep stairs, but the first few minutes of stiffness after sitting at my desk felt a bit easier. I would not call it pain relief. It felt more like background support, which was enough to notice but not enough to rely on for sore days.

Hair was the least obvious part. After about six weeks, I noticed fewer strands on my hoodie after pulling it over my head, and wash days seemed a little less messy. I cannot say that was definitely from the supplement, because seasonal shedding could have changed too. My hair did not get thicker.

One small downside showed up early. On a couple of days in the first two weeks, my mouth felt a bit drier than usual, almost like I had overdone the coffee. It passed quickly, and drinking more water helped.

What I liked less

  • Mild stomach heaviness if I took it on an empty stomach.
  • Clumping when I mixed it the wrong way round.
  • Only modest joint help, with no quick pain-relief effect.
  • Sweetness that became repetitive by the end of the tub.

It also did not fix the things I secretly hoped it might. It did not erase fine lines, and it did nothing for the uneven pigmentation I have had for years. It did not make me look rested after a bad night either. That was a useful reminder that supplements can support the basics, but they do not replace sleep or skin care.

I liked that it was not just collagen peptides. My tub included marine collagen, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, NMN and other NAD+ precursors, coenzyme Q10 including ubiquinol, and resveratrol. I can see why that would appeal to someone who wants one daily product instead of several separate ones. At the same time, it also means I cannot honestly separate which ingredient did what.

Who I think it suits

For me, Collagen Select fit the “slow and steady” category. It suited me as a daily habit for skin comfort, nail support, and general upkeep, and it made sense because I was willing to wait a few weeks before judging it.

I would skip it if you hate flavoured powders, if sweet drinks make you feel queasy in the morning, or if you expect quick help for joint pain. I would also think twice if you avoid marine-sourced products, because my collagen was marine-based. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or managing a health condition, I would check supplements carefully before starting one like this.

My verdict is simple. I would buy Collagen Select again when I want a gentle, low-effort skin-and-nails routine, but I would not expect a transformation. It gave me a noticeable, gradual improvement in skin comfort and a small boost in nail strength, with only modest help for my knees. That is enough for me to recommend it, as long as the expectations stay realistic.
