I tried Artovitel as a local gel for my joints, applying it directly where I felt pain or stiffness. I reached for it mainly for my knees and Achilles tendons after running and after long periods of sitting in the car. I simply wanted to walk more easily in the morning and feel more comfortable after training.

I had the gel in a small bottle, and the packaging indicated Artovitel, boswellia serrata, collagen, essential oils, and herbal extracts. Some of the text on the packaging was in English, which bothered me a bit because I prefer clear information with such products. However, the application itself was straightforward: it was a gel for external use, not tablets or internal treatment. I considered it a supportive product for comfort during overload, not something that would fix my knee.

I applied it for six weeks straight. In the morning after my shower and in the evening before bed, so twice a day. When I had a longer run, a hike, or more stair climbing, I added another application in the afternoon. For one knee, a strip of gel about the length of a finger segment was enough, and I used less for my Achilles tendon. I learned to really massage it in, even for half a minute, because just quickly spreading it didn’t seem as effective.

The first lesson came on the very first day. After applying it, I didn’t wash my hands thoroughly enough and then rubbed my eye. The menthol chill in my eye was quite unpleasant; it burned and watered, although it passed after a while. Since then, I’ve washed my hands immediately, including between my fingers. The second minor issue was the evening application. The gel absorbed relatively quickly and didn’t leave a heavy greasy film, but for a few minutes, my skin still felt slippery. I didn’t want to wipe it on my bedding, so I applied it earlier and then tidied up the kitchen or stretched briefly.

In the first week, I mainly felt the effect on my skin. After application, there was a chill, sometimes a slight tingling, and after a few minutes, it changed to a mild warming sensation. For my knees, it quickly dulled the surface discomfort, as if the pain had receded into the background. However, the first steps in the morning were still not pleasant. I got up from the couch just as cautiously as before, so I wouldn’t describe the first week as a significant change in my joints.

In the second week, I noticed something more specific. I was able to walk more quickly in the morning. The pain didn’t disappear, and it wasn’t a dramatic turnaround, but I didn’t need as many slow first steps around the apartment. After running, I also felt less pressure around my knee, although I didn’t measure any swelling and don’t want to make more of it than it was. At that time, I also started applying the gel to my lower back after longer car rides. There, it mainly helped with a feeling of relaxation and warmth, but it didn’t address the cause of the stiffness.

The best period for me came around the third and fourth weeks. When I used Artovitel after sports, the next day I had less dull aftereffect around my kneecap. I noticed that my Achilles tendon was not as sensitive to touch and didn’t pull as much during the first steps in the morning. However, it still held true that if I pushed my pace too hard or added kilometers too quickly, my body would remind me. The gel helped me return to normal rather than allowing me to ignore my limits.

The effects were stable in the fifth and sixth weeks. When I skipped an application, I mainly noticed it in the evening after sitting for a long time, when it was harder for me to get up. When I returned to regular application, my comfort improved again. This was a clear sign for me that Artovitel worked as a regular local support, not as a one-time miracle.

I liked that the gel wasn’t as thick as some ointments I had used before. The scent was menthol herbal. I’m not a big fan of strongly scented products, but I tolerated it here without any problems. At the same time, I wouldn’t hide the things that bothered me:

  • On freshly shaved skin, it stung more than I found comfortable several times.
  • When I applied it too close to the back of my knee, the chill was too strong.
  • Once, I developed a dry patch at the application site; a one-day break and a neutral cream helped.
  • The cracking in my knee and the feeling of stability didn’t improve.

I would be cautious for sensitive skin. Similarly, for people who are sensitive to menthol or warming products. I didn’t have anything serious, but I experienced stinging, temporary skin sensitivity, and a dry spot. I also wouldn’t rely solely on the gel if pain wakes me at night, if the joint is significantly swollen, or if the condition is worsening. In such cases, it makes sense to address the cause with a professional, not just cover the feeling with a gel.

I would recommend Artovitel more to someone dealing with common sports overload, stiffness after sitting, or discomfort in the joints in cooler weather. It made sense to me as something to keep in the drawer after exertion. I would buy it again, but not as a primary solution. My experience is soberly positive: with regular application, it improved my comfort and shortened my recovery time, but I don’t expect it to fix my joint or resolve long-term issues without movement, strengthening, and a sensible regimen.
