Proctonic is an external preparation in a tube that I tried for mild hemorrhoid issues and irritated skin around the anus. I reached for it when I was suffering from burning, itching, and pressure after sitting for a long time and after a bowel movement. I mainly wanted to get through a day without constantly thinking about the toilet.

I started cautiously. I washed the area with lukewarm water, gently dried it, and applied a small amount, about the size of a pea, only externally. I used it at home in the morning and evening, and I immediately washed my hands after application. After applying a thicker layer, I had a greasy film left on my skin, and once I got it on my underwear, so I quickly got used to taking a few minutes break before getting dressed.

On the first day, I mainly felt a cooling sensation. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was more pronounced than I expected, and for a few minutes, I experienced a slight tingling sensation. After morning use, the burning sensation after a bowel movement subsided for a while, which was my first small relief. The scent reminded me of an herbal ointment. It wasn’t off-putting, but it wasn’t something I wanted to smell for long.

I didn’t expect a quick resolution to the problem, and it didn’t happen. The first week mainly changed in that it became more bearable after use. However, after sitting for several hours, the pressure and itching returned. At that moment, Proctonic worked more as a short-term relief rather than a solution to the cause.

In the second week, I noticed that the irritation after a bowel movement subsided faster. Previously, I would still feel it in the evening, whereas with regular use, it often calmed down during the morning. In the third week, I experienced the biggest difference in that I stopped stressing so much before visiting the toilet. The itching was less frequent, and the burning wasn’t as sharp. The swelling seemed smaller, although I wouldn’t say it disappeared.

I used Proctonic for six weeks. During that time, it helped me the most with the feeling of tension and with irritated skin around the anus. When I skipped it in the morning, I noticed the difference during the day, especially when sitting for a long time. If I skipped the evening application, I often felt dryness and slight itching in the morning. It didn’t bother me enough to stop using it, but the routine of applying it twice a day was sometimes a hassle.

The composition made sense to me mainly as a protective and moisturizing layer. It contains shea butter, horse chestnut extract, clove, and beeswax. The skin wasn’t dry after use, which I appreciated. At the same time, I didn’t take the natural ingredients as a guarantee that it would suit everyone. Those who react sensitively to herbal extracts or fragrances should really start with a small amount.

What bothered me the most were three things: the cooling sensation sometimes turned into a brief stinging, a thicker layer left a greasy film, and without adjusting my drinking habits and diet, the preparation alone wasn’t enough. It also didn’t resolve my tendency to have issues after long sitting. I noticed that consistently.

  • The cooling sensation sometimes stung.
  • A thicker layer stuck to my underwear.
  • Without changing habits, it wasn’t sufficient.
  • It didn’t have a lasting effect for long sitting.

I would recommend it to someone with mild external issues who wants to soothe itching, burning, and irritated skin. It worked for me as a supplement to drinking more, walking more, and not letting my stool harden unnecessarily. I don’t see it as a solution for severe pain, bleeding, significant swelling, or recurring and worsening issues. In such a situation, I wouldn’t rely solely on an ointment and would seek medical examination.

I would buy it again if I experienced similar mild irritation. I wouldn’t expect a miracle from it, but it worked decently for me as a short-term relief. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, Proctonic alleviated my burning and itching, but the real difference came only with adjustments to my daily habits.
